Everyone qualifies! We are open to the general public, including persons with disabilities. Regardless of age, income, or disability, everyone qualifies to ride with Peoplerides. Our vehicles are handicap accessible to serve the diverse needs of our clients.
Due to certain state and federal regulations and City of Marshalltown policies, it is not possible for Peoplerides to provide in-town transit service in Marshalltown without the rider first applying for Paratransit* services in Marshalltown. During the application process, and once approved, persons who live within the Marshalltown area can ride with Peoplerides in the City of Marshalltown. Those who are not approved for Paratransit service are not allowed to ride with Peoplerides in Marshalltown. The City of Marshalltown is responsible for reviewing and approving Paratransit service applications. The only exceptions to this rule are: (1) If the person has Medicaid and is approved for transportation with Access to Care, or (2) If the person is traveling to or from a Unity Point Hospital or Clinic. Marshalltown residents can utilize Peoplerides services on a limited basis only when they are going to and from a Unity Point Hospital or Clinics at a rate of $8 each way or $16 round trip.
*Residents of Marshalltown are encouraged to fill out a Paratransit application in order to assess their transportation needs. A Paratransit Application can be found at the link below. The Paratransit application will determine whether the resident is allowed to utilize Paratransit services, or if the resident is better served by the Marshalltown Municipal Transit (MMT) bus system. To apply for Paratransit services in Marshalltown, simply fill out the application and return it to the City of Marshalltown Municipal Transit at 905 E. Main Street, Marshalltown, Iowa 50158 or kpigors@marshalltown-ia.gov. If approved, Paratransit trips can be used for work, medical appointments, shopping, education, social, or any other transportation need a resident may have.
