Region 6 Housing Trust Fund

The Region 6 Housing Trust Fund seeks to improve the supply of quality affordable housing across Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama Counties. The Trust Fund was organized in 2009. The Iowa Finance Authority, Region 6 Planning Commissions, and four counties have provided financial support for this regional initiative.

WHO QUALIFIES

New home buyers, existing homeowners, rental property owners, and other affordable housing projects may qualify for the Region 6 Housing Trust Fund.

APPLICATION

Applications will be accepted continuously, placed on a waiting list, and reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis as funding is available.

There are three ways to file a Housing Trust Fund application:

  1. Fill out the online application and submit online: https://www.region6resources.org/housingtrustfundapplication/ 
  2. Print and fill out a paper application (application available in English and Spanish)
  3. Come to our office for a printed application

OTHER RESOURCES

MICA Weatherization Program. If you have housing weatherization needs, contact the MICA Weatherization Program at https://micaonline.org/services/housing/weatherization/. This program can replace inefficient or dangerous appliances such as water heaters or furnaces, insulate your home, insulate pipes, and more. Weatherization is not a home repair program (this program can’t replace windows, roofs, or do construction work). Eligible families must meet the income guidelines.

City of Marshalltown HUD Lead Hazard Reduction Program. If you live in the City of Marshalltown, you may qualify for the HUD Lead Hazard Reduction Program from the City of Marshalltown. More information is available at https://www.marshalltown-ia.gov/189/Lead-Hazard-Program. This program may be able to help with repair or replacement of painted surfaces with a lead hazard, including window or door replacement. Eligible families must meet the income guidelines and have a child in the home under the age of 6. Eligible properties must have been built prior to 1978.
